• Message from the Principal

If we’ve learned one thing during these uncertain times, it’s that kids thrive academically, socially and emotionally when they are in an engaging learning environment. Thanks to the teamwork, dedication and hard work of educators, parents, community members and health officials, we are working together to make sure our children can embrace their studies in a safe manner -- whether it’s in school or at home. Our students are an inspiration each and every day as they mask up, bundle up and do whatever it takes as they learn inside, outside, under tents, on the school grounds and in the classrooms.

Little Compton has always had a great sense of community spirit and pride. This has never been more evident than now. As the principal at Wilbur McMahon School, I work closely with faculty, staff, students, parents and the community to enhance and enrich the educational opportunities for all of our learners. Faced with a pandemic, I can see first hand how Little Compton has created a widely-respected school district that serves as a role model for many. When there is a challenge, everyone steps up and gets the job done.

Despite the impact of Covid-19, now more than ever we are dedicated to preparing students for educational and life experiences in an atmosphere where there is respect for the dignity of every person and an enthusiasm for learning. As we all face the same challenge, our students never fail to amaze me as they meet each obstacle head on and find ways to work together and succeed. This school year may look very different, but we’re all finding ways to pivot, adapt and shift gears to ensure our students have access to educational programs that are challenging and supportive, distinguished by consistent high standards and attentive to the needs and potential of each child.

Thank you for your continued support of our school, our students and our educators. Together, we will give all of our students the foundation they need to become lifelong learners.
